Education Reimagined

A free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere: this is the goal of the Khan Academy, a passion project that grew from an ex-engineer and hedge funder's online tutoring sessions with his niece, who was struggling with algebra, into a worldwide phenomenon. Today millions of students, parents, and teachers use the Khan Academy's free videos and software, which have expanded to encompass nearly every conceivable subject; and Academy techniques are being employed with exciting results in a growing number of classrooms around the globe.

Like many innovators, Khan rethinks existing assumptions and imagines what education could be if freed from them. And his core idea-liberating teachers from lecturing and state-mandated calendars and opening up class time for truly human interaction-has become his life's passion. Schools seek his advice about connecting to students in a digital age, and people of all ages and backgrounds flock to the site to utilize this fresh approach to learning.

Getting in A tree top

A video of our Avenue of the Giants Trip, This world-famous scenic drive is a 31-mile portion of old Highway 101, which parallels Freeway 101 with its 51,222 acres of redwood groves. It is by far the most outstanding display of these giant trees in the entire 500 mile redwood belt. The Avenue of the Giants is surrounded by Humboldt Redwoods State Park which has the largest remaining stand of virgin redwoods in the world.

Song: Getting in a treetop
by : Morgan Taylor from Gustafer yellowgold
Poem:
Think Like a Tree
by Karen I. Shragg

Think Like a Tree

Soak up the sun
Affirm life's magic
Be graceful in the wind
Stand tall after a storm
Feel refreshed after it rains
Grow strong without notice
Be prepared for each season
Provide shelter to strangers
Hang tough through a cold spell
Emerge renewed at the first signs of spring
Stay deeply rooted while reaching for the sky
Be still long enough to
hear your own leaves rustling.

Domo Arigato Mr. Roboto

This morning C and I decided to make something, keep in mind this is not Martha, or Craft magazine, we just got a couple of packages on the mail and decided to take the empty boxes and fill the morning with a craft project, instructions are as follow: take a couple of used boxes, get a glue gun(garage sale find)and... good luck , you are on your own. At one point I decided to put shelves on Mr Roboto and it took a lot of time,(hence the lack of good arms for the robot) in any case, it was a great project,we had lots of fun.
Mr. Roboto is currently used as a shelving unit for little toys, check out the slide show below.
