A new exhibition at Bowdoin College showcases pop-up books—for children and adults—from the Harold M. Goralnick (Class of '71) Pop-up Book Collection. The exhibition, which is open to the public free of charge, is located on the second floor of Bowdoin's Hawthorne-Longfellow Library. It runs through June 5, 2011.

LookyBook, Lucky us 3:07 PM

LookyBook was named by TIME magazine as one the 50 Best websites of 2008, it is really a great site, it features the ability to preview every book in its entirety; users can review, rate and buy books. You may not find every book you're looking for, but as the site grows it keeps adding more titles. I have started building Camilo’s Bookshelf, some books are not age appropriate but when the time comes, the research will be already done. (Who I’m I kidding?). On that subject, I have been looking closely at artist Craig Frazier, a graphics design artist and illustrator, his “Stanley” books have incredible visuals and concise wording that allows the imagination to flow in every turn of the page.
Plus the great thing about the whole Lookybook experience is that you get to interact with other parents and share your bookshelf; do you have a LookyBook Bookshelf? I do.

Richard Scarry's Biggest Word Book Ever! 12:11 PM

This board book is as tall as Camilo, it’s his favorite book, packed with pictures of Scarry’s characters, he always wants us to sit with him on the book and look and read about all the perky creatures, it encourages sharing and cooperative play. Great for vocabulary building (there are lots of words on this book) and as usual Mommy says it in English and Daddy in Español.
